Tai Chi Chuan Workshop with Master Henry Wang

March 27, 2010
Master Wang became a national push hands champion in Taiwan while still in his twenties. Although he won that title several times in succession, he was dissatisfied with his achievement. He realized it depended on strength and technique and not on relaxation and softness. He wondered how success might be found using the concept from the Tai Chi Chuan Classics of “four ounces moving a thousand pounds”? Then he met Grandmaster Huang Sheng Shyan of Malaysia. Finally here was someone who truly possessed soft martial arts skills. He studied as much as possible with Grandmaster Huang whenever Huang visited Taiwan. Later Master Wang moved to Canada where he was able to further develop and refine the secrets of softness. He called his new art Search Center in order to emphasize the use of softness rather than physical strength when engaging a partner in push hands practice.

Master Wang has devoted over thirty-five years to the study of tai chi chuan and to the development of what has now become the Wang Style method. He is one of very few tai chi masters who actually use chi and not li (physical force). His extraordinary martial skills attest to the validity of his tai chi principles.

Enrollment is limited to 30 people. To assure your place (or ask questions), please contact Ted Libby ([email protected]). “Walk-in” registrations can only be accepted on a “space available” basis. $160 payment will be collected at the door. Cash (exact amount only please) or check. Doors open at 9:10am at the Knights of Columbus Bldg, 722 E. Union St. Workshop runs from 9:30am to noon, and 1:30 to 4pm.

Zheng Style Tai Ji: Zhan Zhuang Standing & Push Hands

March 27, 2010
The version of classical Chinese Tai Ji Quan created by Professor Zheng Manqing (1900-1975) embodies an uncompromising emphasis on absolute relaxation as a uniquely streamlined and efficient approach to the cultivation of internal power. In this workshop we will have an excellent opportunity to experience two core elements of Professor Zheng’s body of work: Zhan Zhuang and Pushing Hands.

In the morning section, we will explore and experience the exotic flavor of Zheng Style Taijiquan’s unique suite of ZHAN ZHUANG exercises, as synthesized by Prof. Zheng’s senior disciple Benjamin Lo. Scott will introduce the Principles that underlie all Zheng style Zhan Zhuang methods and participants will be exposed to the theory and practice of a number of variations of Zheng style Zhan Zhuang.

This work segues seamlessly into the afternoon’s exploration of Pushing Hands. Unlike many approaches to push hands training which begin with complex but formally restricted patterns, push hands is freely experienced as pure sensitivity and relaxation training. Learn to utilize the energy derived from Zhan Zhuang work in the morning session and to identify points of tension in a partner. Scott will clearly delineate and demonstrate the three main energies of push hands (receiving, transforming, and rooting) in 1-1 interaction with each participant. All participants are guaranteed time to push freely with instructor.

The Workshop is suitable for practitioners of any martial art and any variety of Taijiquan. Participants may register independently but will benefit most from taking both. In-depth PDF flyer of workshop here.

Individual Sessions $30 by March 1; $40 at the door.
Whole Day $50 by March 1; $70 at the door.
Proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

Scott Meredith ([email protected]) has studied and practiced a large variety of Asian and Western martial arts for over 35 years. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, and he is a long-time senior student of Tai Chi master Benjamin Lo.

Matrix Energetics Healing Seminar

December 3-6, 2010
It has been Dr. Richard Bartlett’s burning desire for many years to push the envelope until he came up with a teachable system that people from all walks of life could use for themselves, not just a few select or “gifted” people. Not just health practitioners but people with no previous experience as well. Dr. Bartlett worked to develop a system that produced observable and verifiable changes and which could be taught to others as easily as any other life skill. Matrix Energetics encompasses a new state of mind, a new way of looking at the world we live and breathe in, and a new way of reaching out to new possibilities, a consciousness shift.

According to modern physicists, all reality can be described as vibrations and waveforms where everything is light and information. We chose the “matrix” name because we enter into a unique morphic field when we do this work. One can imagine it much like a lattice of information, and one learns to reach into the lattice and change that information. Often in a seminar the unconscious mind is the student and the logical mind has to take a breather. Then the logical mind gets its time to be happy as we explore the science behind the “magic.”

Matrix Energetics is dedicated to bringing this new consciousness shift and personal power of transformation and healing to as many people as possible. Dedicated to showing people how to access new possibilities. When people can observe and see for themselves verifiable physical changes rapidly as happens when using Matrix Energetics, it helps them to accept these new possibilities and makes it real for them.

Course levels 1 and 2 will be offered in Seattle in December. Pre-registration prices start at $355. The Friday Evening Intro/Outline is Free & Open to the Public as space allows. There is no need to register for Friday evening. Just show up. You may register for the weekend after the Intro (or early Saturday morning otherwise). For more information or to register early, visit the Matrix Energetics website.
